A Beginner’s Guide to White Wines

Wine Guide

If the only thing you know about white wine is that it pairs well with seafood and certain cheeses, then you must continue reading this post.

Vinera Wine Society would love nothing more than to open your mind (and palette) to the endless flavors and possibilities that white wine has to offer. And lucky for you, we bring some of the best international white wines right to your doorstep!

Here are three main things you need to know about white wines:

  1. White wine has fewer calories than red wine.
  2. White wine is best served in a tulip-shaped glass that features a narrower bowl and a smaller opening than red wine glasses. This design helps preserve the fruit flavors of white wine by keeping it at the optimal temperature for longer.
  3. Most white wines tend to be at their best within the first couple of years after they’re bottled. So don’t wait too long before opening your bottle, we don’t want to delay satisfaction!

While there are many different varieties and types of white wine, you’ll usually find seven main varietals in restaurants and in stores:

  1. Chardonnay
  2. Sauvignon Blanc
  3. Pinot Grigio
  4. Riesling
  5. Moscato
  6. Gewürztraminer
  7. Viognier

Drinking wine is an adventure! Allow Vinera Wine Society to take you on one! Below are some of our most beloved white wines from all over the world. Be sure to opt in and become a member of Vinera Wine Society so that you can enjoy internationally acclaimed wines from the comfort of your home!
